California State University San Marcos in North County San Diego is building on an innovative 30-year history with a forward-focused institution, dedicated to preparing future leaders, building great communities, and solving critical issues. The university is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. CSUSM is comprised of four colleges:
- College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral & Social Sciences
- College of Business Administration
- College of Education, Health & Human Services
- College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics
These colleges offer 43 bachelor degrees, 24 master’s programs, 8 credential programs, and 1 joint doctoral program. Also, there are 8 centers and institutes specialized centers and institutes complementing instructional programs.

The university employs 284 tenure-track professors with terminal degrees and 556 lecturers. CSUSM's outstanding faculty ensures that even on a large campus, CSUSM offers small classes with a student-to-faculty ratio of 24:1.

CSU San Marcos provides international students with many exciting opportunities to get involved in campus life and take part in fun extracurricular activities. Whether a student is interested in joining a mid-day yoga class, a Sport Club, or a snorkeling trip in La Jolla, CSUSM’s Campus Recreation offers many options each semester. There are 100+ academic, cultural, and special interest student organizations visiting students are welcome to join. Campus life
California State University San Marcos is located in North County San Diego. Just a short distance from California’s most beautiful beaches, mountains and deserts where you can swim, surf, hike, golf and ski. Nestled in the foothills in the city of San Marcos, CSUSM is surrounded by rolling hills and scenic views, and within walking distance of supermarkets, shops and restaurants. CSUSM is a state-of-the-art, technologically sophisticated mid-sized campus of 17,000 students with all of the resources of a large, comprehensive university. Getting around by car is the most efficient, but if one does not have access to a car or prefers the ease of public transit, two options can help get to and from CSUSM and the surrounding area: the BREEZE bus system and the SPRINTER rail system. For housing accommodations, international students can choose from dormitories, off-campus apartments, or homestay. CSUSM offers a variety of dining plans and locations as well as easy access to local supermarkets for aspiring chefs.
City of San Marcos
San Marcos is located in northern San Diego County and offers beautiful beaches, an hour drive to the mountains and desert, a downtown nightlife, shopping, and more all within a short trip from campus! San Marcos enjoys the mild, year-round climate with an average of 23-28 cm of rainfall annually and average summer temperature hovering around 25 C.
