University
UMP was founded as a competence-based technical university in 2002 and specialises in engineering and technology.
Within the Malaysia Technical University Network it is considered a good university in terms of research and innovation. It also maintains close contacts with local industries in order to focus on industry-related applications in teaching, to enrich the teaching and learning processes and to promote the commercialisation of research products. This gives students the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the latest research and development activities in the industry.

The Faculty
Pekan Campus:
The Pekan Campus, 50 km from the Gambang Campus, is the main campus of the university. A total of 10,000 students study there and 2,000 employees work there. The site is located close to an ever-growing industrial zone, especially the automotive industry, which acts as a catalyst for research collaboration and academic dissemination.
Currently, the three faculties - Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering and Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Electronics - are located on this campus, which is surrounded by the sea breeze of the South China Sea.
Gambang Campus:
The campus is located in an industrial area about 30 km from the city of Kuantan and can be reached within two and a half hours by car from Kuala Lumpur via the East Coast Expressway.
Currently, there are four faculties, one institute and two centres on this campus, namely the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering, the Faculty of Science and Industrial Engineering, the Faculty of Industrial Management, the Institute of Postgraduate Studies and the Centre for Mathematical Sciences and Centre for Human Sciences.

Campus life
The university provides the following offers and services, for example prayer rooms, accommodation for students or regular Culture Nights Various sports activities are also offered, such as kayaking, dancing or fitness.
City of Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia borders Thailand and has maritime borders with Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia. Due to the long British colonial period, the second official language is English. This could be of particular advantage for international students and tourists.7
In the capital Kuala Lumpur, a visit to the Petronas Towers at over 400 metres and the Batu Caves are among the highlights of the city. Langwiki Island in the north of the country offers a beach.8
Markets and bazaars, such as Petaling Street, are one way of getting to know the culture and cuisine of the locals.9
The following information should be taken into account during a stay in Malaysia:
- The currency is called "Ringgit (RM).
- Humidity in Malaysia is very high and the climate is hot and humid tropical with year-round temperatures10 in the range of 25 to 28°C.
