More than 18,000 students from different countries are enrolled at the University of Haifa. The university is located in the north of Israel and was founded in 1963. The people themselves make the university a special place of learning, characterized by multiculturalism and an atmosphere of tolerance.3

The university comprises six faculties, eight departments and 69 research centers and institutes. This makes it the largest university in the country. The University of Haifa has an international reputation in a variety of fields, including cancer research, security studies, holocaust research and many others.4

Campus life
One of the central components of the campus is multiculturalism. The composition of the faculty and students is unique. Here, people with different cultures and socio-economic status come together to study, teach and learn.7
City of Haifa
Haifa is the largest city in northern Israel and the third largest city in the country with over 280,000 inhabitants. Haifa has a mixed population of Jews and Arabs, but the percentage of the Jewish population is about 90%. The city is located on the slopes of Mount Carmel and around Haifa Bay along the Mediterranean coast.8
The port of Haifa is the largest port in Israel and serves both passengers and cargo ships. In addition to the importance of the cargo port, Haifa industry also plays an important role in the Israeli economy. In and around the city there are several high-tech parks with production and research and development facilities for companies such as Intel, IBM, Microsoft and Google, as well as one of Israel's two oil refineries.9
Haifa is particularly famous for the sanctuary of the Báb and the surrounding hanging gardens on the Carmel, which were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. Due to its location, Haifa offers a variety of beautiful beaches on the Mediterranean coast. Haifa also has several museums, including the popular Israeli National Museum of Science, Technology and Space.10
