The University of Leipzig was founded in 1409, making it the second oldest university in Germany to be run without interruption. It teaches around 31,100 students with 5,400 employees in 150 different courses of study.
As a member of the german U15 network, the University of Leipzig is one of the strongest research universities in Germany and a leading medical university. Its research is mainly concentrated on these three fields:

The Faculty of Economic Sciences houses the Institute of Information Systems (IWI), which maintains contacts with many research institutions worldwide.

As the university's study locations are spread all over the city, student life is also very versatile.
For IS:link students, the Augustusplatz campus is especially important, as this is where most of the lectures take place.7
