University
The University of Jönköping was founded in 1977. It is located in the city of Jönköping and is one of three Swedish private universities.3 Students have the opportunity to choose between 80 different Bachelor and Master programs. It is also possible to obtain further education licenses and doctoral degrees in the field of industrial product development (see subheading: The Faculty).4
Jönköping University
Research and teaching at Jönköping University is conducted at four faculties: Jönköping International Business School, School of Education and Communication, School of Health Sciences and Jönköping School of Engineering. The University of Jönköping also offers international campus and study programs for researchers and students.5
The Faculty
For IS: link guest students the Jönköping School of Engineering is particularly relevant. Here not only knowledge from the field of technology is taught, but also skills and knowledge from the areas of leadership, communication, economy and ecology. Particular emphasis is placed on the contact points of the students and the teaching with industry.6
Due to the close contact to industry, the research focus (especially for Master and PhD students) is on industrial product realization, applied to small and medium-sized enterprises. It covers the entire value chain of the product and thus combines the following research areas:7
- Industrial Product Development, Production and Design
- Materials and Manufacturing
- Supply Chain and Operations Management
- Computer Science and Informatics
- Construction Engineering and Lighting Science
The Casting Innovation Centre provides a common space for industry and education to conduct research in the areas of product development, production / processes and materials for the casting / foundry industry. 8

Student life
Students from all over the world meet on campus. In the immediate vicinity of the campus are the beaches of Lake Vättern, the city center and several historical monuments.9
Campus life
The university offers cultural and recreational activities covering various fields of interest (music, theater, sports, politics, etc.). The campus is centrally located and allows students to visit nearby cafés, restaurants, pubs or the university's own nightclub.10
City of Jönköping
The city of Jönköping is located in the south of Sweden and is the sixth most populous city in Sweden. Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is located about 320 kilometers from Jönköping.
Jönköping is the center for forestry and agriculture. It has a favorable climate and is located south of Lake Vättern. Jönköping is centrally located between Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö and is a very important logistics center. Many large companies build their warehouses there.11
